The Magic That We Make

Helping others return to light is the magic that we make. The most valuable gift we can give another is empowerment to find the way back home. The same day I met my therapist Cole took me to a mystic shop and gave me powerful healing tools to illuminate my path. The real transformation began as my mindset shifted. Deciding to let go of negativity through intention cleared the way for brighter days ahead.

Looking to ward off bad energy, sage seemed like the ticket for us as it helps to connect to the spiritual realm and solve spiritual dilemmas. Smudging (clearing with sage) is a ritual tool to rid yourself or your space of negativity whether they be past traumas, bad experiences or negative energies from others. Feeling my dedication shifting to self-improvement, I went all in and bought a ton. To this day I’m still the girl that shows up with sage after any of my friends goes through a breakup or loss of any kind. Out with the old, ya know?

As we wandered around The Bag Lady, I found myself drawn to something new to me, Palo Santo. If you are unfamiliar, it’s a mystical tree that grows wild in the tropical dry forests of South America. What it offers is very rare and magical though it is not particularly beautiful. Healers believe that Palo Santo has a strong spirit that one must treat with respect because it continues to live in the wood long after the tree has fallen. The wood and essential oils can't be extracted until at least three years after the natural death of the tree. After years on the forest floor, the wood develops magical properties. The power to purify, attract positive energy and clear negative energy grows in that time. It's also known to gain the ability to bring about both physical and spiritual healing. The best part is that all comes after the fall. How magical is that? I couldn't get enough of it.

Cole bought me a palm stone of rose quartz that day too. Every night for a year, I drifted off to sleep with that crystal in my hand while listening to the great Sufi master Llewelyn Vaughn Lee talk about dissolving into love. It’s something I still do quite a bit. Turns out rose quartz is the stone of universal love. It is said to restore trust and harmony in relationships, encouraging unconditional love. It purifies and opens the heart at all levels promoting love, self-love, friendship, deep inner healing, and feelings of peace. I can tell you it definitely worked for me. I meditated on melting into love as my breathing slowed and the world got still.
